Trey Faulkner spends his days working online with classes and keeping up with homework.

When it comes to keeping up on his game, the Horizon Honors senior is doing his best to stay in shape and finding time to go to the cages to work on his hitting.

“It definitely makes it a lot more difficult, but I get it, it is part of life,” Faulkner said.

Faulkner has made the best of the COVID-19 situation and is doing his part to help get things back to normal. At first his view was different when the team was told of the news.

“We were all pretty upset with it and everyone was just in shock for the most part,” said Faulkner.

Coach Tom Kandler was also in shock. “The canceling of the games is tough because you players become a part of your family and your connection almost ends with them,” said Kandler.

Now the only way that Kandler communicates with the team is over the phone and email. That is tough and frustrating. Kandler is dealing with it like Faulkner is, doing his part and taking the situation day-by-day.

“I was frustrated because I thought we were really starting to gel as a team,” Kandler said.

The team was playing well and picking up wins before the season was canceled Monday. Kandler said that he feels bad for the seniors and anyone who participates in extracurricular activities.

They will miss prom and school functions along with games.
