Seven earn Doherty Award Nomination Medallions

The Grand Canyon State Gridiron Club (GCSGC) announced the recipients of the Week 4 Ed Doherty Award Nomination Medallions. Seven players were recognized for outstanding play during their respective games on Friday, Oct. 23.
“The Ed Doherty Award represents all that is great about high school football in Arizona,” said Selection Committee chairman, Rob Yowell in a release. “This week, these seven recipients of the Nomination Medallions are honored for outstanding individual performances during week 4”
“As we continue to see scattered game cancellations, we’re also seeing many examples of the grit, determination and sportsmanship demonstrated by the players, coaches, parents and fans all across the state,” Don Kile added. “We couldn’t be prouder of all of the Ed Doherty Award nominees as the lead their communities and teams through these challenging times.”
Four of the seven players were named on the 50-player Week 3 Watch List™ released on Oct. 12. All seven players will receive their Medallions at an upcoming school event this week. By earning Ed Doherty Award Nomination Medallions, they will attend the end of season Ed Doherty Award Luncheon on Jan. 9, 2021 where one athlete will become the recipient of the Ed Doherty Award.
Details on their individual performances on October 23 are as follows:
Caden Calloway SR/RB - Campo Verde
In Week 4, Campo Verde's key region opener against Notre Dame Prep posted Caden Calloway with 25 carries for 201yds and 2TDs for the Coyotes in a 27-12 win over Notre Dame.
DJ Gleash SR/DE - Centennial
In the Coyotes' Week 4 come from behind win over Pinnacle 34-21, Gleash was the catalyst behind a defense that shut out the Pioneers in the 2nd half. He tallied 7 tackles (3 solo), 2 QB hurries and 2 sacks, running his season totals to 38 tackles and 5 sacks through 4 games.
PJ London SR/QB - Blue Ridge
Blue Ridge senior quarterback, PJ London led the Yellow Jackets in a 42-37 win over Arizona College Prep during Week 4. London was 14/17 passing for 251yds and 2TDs, 13 rushes for 96yds and had a 22yd interception return.
Cole Martin SO/DB - Hamilton
In Week 4, Cole Martin led the Huskies defense in a 13-7 win over Saguaro. The sophomore defensive back locked down his side of the field allowing no completions, 3 solo tackles and 168 return yards, including 2 punt returns setting up the Husky offense for 10 points.
Brock Mast SR/QB - Liberty
Senior quarterback, Brock Mast, led the Liberty offense in a 35-28 road win over Queen Creek during Week 4. Mast was 22/29 passing for 276yds and 3TDs.
Jordan Richardson SR CB/WR - Moon Valley
In the Rockets' Week 4 win, Jordan Richardson played both sides of the ball in the 34-30 win over Glendale. He caught 4 passes for 74yds and 2TDs, added 9 tackles (5 solo), 2 caused fumbles (recovered one), 2 pass defenses and an interception that he returned 95yds for a TD.
Richard Stallworth SO/QB - Yuma Catholic
In the Shamrocks' 54-21 win over Dysart, Stallworth completed 32/40 passes for 559yds 5TDs and added 2 rushing TDs. Through Week 4, the sophomore leads the state in passing yards, passing yards per game, TD passes and completion percentage.
