Leading the 2A Valley Region Champs, the six seniors on Chandler Prep’s volleyball team have finished up their last regular season with the Titans. These six athletes are role models to their fellow teammates, people who enjoy life, and forces to be reckoned with on the court. Head Coach Jones says this to this group of seniors:
“I don’t know if I will ever have another group of seniors like you six, but I hope if I am lucky enough to have a daughter she has a part of each of you inside her. I hoper she has Amanda’s sarcastic laughter at my jokes, Cassi’s grit, Evi’s energy, Holly’s determination, Ellie’s niceness, and Olivia’s drive… Thanks for everything of the past four years, ladies. I am truly thankful to have been a part of your life and wish you nothing but the best moving forward.”
On November 3rd, before the match against Arete Prep, the Titans celebrated their seniors. Their answers to a few questions were shared about future plans, favorite memories, and any advice they would want to give to their teammates. All of the seniors also thanked their parents for their influential role in sports and life. The following are some of the responses to the questions that stood out. Titan Up.
Question: What are some of your favorite memories or moments from playing Chandler Prep volleyball?
Olivia Cadien (OH): My favorite memory is when we went to NAU. We all hung out in one room. Evi’s mom set off the fire alarm and Amanda’s first instinct was to save the fruit snacks. Holly ordered a number nine with a Hi-C, and Marin and Sydney argued about six plus four equaling ten.
Cassi Bronson (L, DS): My favorite memory was coaching a boys volleyball team with my teammates from my grade level. When we would come together for the tournament, all of our team that was coaching would get so into it. The boys even made up their own cheers and strategies. These boys volleyball tournaments would always get so loud and energy would radiate off of everyone there.
Amanda Stoft (MB): My favorite memory was beating Rancho in the fifth set. We played with so much passion and determination and I’ll never forget the feeling of watching us get that last 15th point. I can’t leave out my close seconds, however, which are a tie between Holly ordering her number nine with a Hi-C, country-line dancing at a Saturday practice, and Evi definitely not opening the ceiling with a stool so Marin could throw a granola bar in, in hopes that her calc test would be cancelled due to a rat infestation.
Question: What do you want to say to next year’s returning players?
Evi Yates (MB, OH): Guys, I love you and I love all the memories I have made with you individually and as a team. Thank you for being the funkiest group I have ever played volleyball with. Do not take your high school years for granted. It goes so fast and I will miss all of you.
Ellie Unruh (RS): Thank you guys so much for always being so sweet and encouraging to me! This team is definitely my favorite team I have ever been on and I don’t think I would be able to find such a sweet team at any other school! You guys are always so kind, supportive, hard-working, and funny. I’m so thankful for each of you and love you all so much!
Holly Gialketsis (S): Thank you for making this one of the best seasons ever. I will always cherish the memories we made together this season and over the last few years. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing team who can always make me laugh and make everything we do together fun. I can’t wait to come cheer you guys on next year. Love you guys!
