Emilie Follet is a sophomore on the GCHS Track Team. This is her second year running track and she says, “I like track a lot this year, the team is really fun and the coaching staff is great.”
Last season was cut short due to COVID-19, therefore, they didn’t really get to experience a lot that went into the sport. “This track season has been very different since we have been able to have more than one meet,” she explains. The track team only got to compete one time last year, and this year they can, thankfully, have a full season.
Emilie has been working really hard this season to achieve her goals. She says, “track has taught me perseverance by doing the 400 meter and running as hard as I can through the finish line even when I feel like I can’t run anymore.” Not only has track pushed her physically but it has built her character and mindset. Her hard work paid off when running in the 400 meter race she achieved a time of 1:08, an all new personal record.
Emilie has made a lot of memories with the team throughout this season. Her favorite memory is the Nelson Meet, “Where we were able to watch all our teammates run and not have to stay in camp!” says Emilie. Even though this sport takes a lot of hard work and determination, she has really enjoyed doing track this year and plans on doing it again next year.
