Ashley Snyder attends Gilbert Christian High School and is a member of the AIA's student SID program.
Kaleb Powell is a sophomore kicker for the Gilbert Christian High School football team. Throughout his five years of playing football the farthest kick he has ever accomplished in a game is 41 yards. Both his freshman and sophomore year, Kaleb has loved the experience of being on the team and has alread decided to continue to play next year too.
Going more in depth, Kaleb explained how even though he loves being able to make new friends and hang out with them while playing football, his least favorite thing about the sport is the conditioning and how tiring it can be. However, Kaleb said, “Once you have made the decision to be a part of the Gilbert Christian football team, there is much commitment and effort involved, which makes us strive to be better.”
Along with the devotion involved, Kaleb discussed his strengths and his weaknesses. He described his strengths as “kicking and catching the ball as well as tackling his opponents.” One of the weaknesses he mentioned was “blocking the other team from getting the running back.” Kaleb states he can improve this by practicing this skill more often. Kaleb believes his coaches and teammates would describe him as being a great kicker and someone who is very dedicated to the sport.
