Ironwood Ridge senior standout Zoe Newell shot an even 37 to hold off her sister Lucy Newell and Salpointe freshman Mallory McRee by one stroke Wednesday at Randolph North. Zoe Newell was the top-ranked AIA golfer in Division II last fall and she has finished in the top nine every year, including a runner-up finish in 2020.

Zoe is now a senior on a team with plenty of youth, including her sister Lucy, but the Idaho commit is ready for the challenge:

Former Salpointe standout Mackenzie McRee won the D-II state championship as a freshman and again as a senior last year and she is now a freshman at Ohio University. Mallory McRee is her younger sister.

Salpointe junior Lily Huether took fourth with a 2-over-par 39 and Catalina Foothills senior Mia Cesarek came in fifth with a round of 40. As a team, Salpointe came in first place as the host squad.
