Personal records set at the Eye of the Tiger

Eye of the Tiger Cross Country Invitational
Marana junior Mariza Chavez set a personal record of 19:01.6 at the Eye of the Tiger Cross Country Invitational held Saturday morning at Marana High School. Chavez took 23rd at the state Division II race last fall with a time of 20:51.0 and she figures to be a top-ten finisher this fall.
In addition, Rio Rico senior standout Jorge Trujillo set a personal mark of 15:21.6 to win the boy’s race at Marana. Trujillo was the D-III state runner-up last year with a time of 16:25.2.
The various section meets are slated for the first few days of November with the state meet set for Saturday, Nov. 12 at Cave Creek Golf Course.
