Top recruit Courtney Ekmark chooses Connecticut

The University of Connecticut landed its first girls basketball recruit in the Class of 2014 this week when Courtney Ekmark of MaxPreps national champion St. Mary's (Phoenix, Ariz.), made her announcement, according to the Arizona Republic. .
Ranked No. 1 in her class academically, the daughter of coach Curtis Ekmark also had offers from Duke, Stanford, North Carolina, Arizona State, Vanderbilt, Yale and Princeton..
The highly-rated six-foot guard had an outstanding sophomore year, scoring 28 points in the Division I state championship game against Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.).
St. Mary's finished with a perfect 30-0 record and will carry a 40-game winning streak into the 2012-13 campaign.
