Mica Mountain over Desert View 7-0

Mica Mountain beat Desert View 7-0 on Monday to move to 13-3 in ranking games on the final day of the regular season for the 4A Conference, Ranked No. 7 coming in, the Thunderbolts are hoping the victory over Desert View will be good enough to keep the team in the top eight to avoid the play-in tournament slated for Wednesday.
Teams ranked 9-24 in the 2A – 6A Conferences will take part in the play-in phase with the winners there advancing to the first round of the state playoffs to compete against the top eight teams that earned a straight berth to the playoffs. The final regular season rankings will be released on Tuesday.
Desert View (5-13) is ranked No. 29 in the 5A Conference and the Jaguars needed this victory to have a shot at the play-in tournament.
Acelynnrose Heston took the circle for the Thunderbolts and she collected eight strikeouts, with only one hit, in the win to finish the regular season with 198 strikeouts. Heston also went 2-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Shaylee Fuell had a double and two RBI, Teya Mure went 2-3 and Violet Redondo went 3-4 with a double and an RBI. Redondo committed to play for New Mexico State.
Leyla Garza and Jasmine Reyna saw pitching action for the Jaguars, Briyanei Celaya went 1-3.
