After a rough outing in week one, Chandler rebounded emphatically Thursday night.
The Wolves looked like the top program they've been over the last decade by dominating Mountain Ridge, 63-3 at Austin Field in Chandler.
Senior running back Tristan Halsan rushed for 127 yards in the first half and scored three touchdowns in the first 13 minutes of the game. Quarterbacks Will Menci and Dominic Carmigiano both threw for touchdown passes while Menci added another on the ground.
Chandler's performance was far different from its week one outing, when the Wolves got a scare from Cesar Chavez before prevailing 27-18.
Mountain RIdge was coming off a 28-0 win over Tolleson, but any hopes of challenging Chandler were put to rest by the second quarter.
"Tonight we played the way we expected to play last week," Chandler coach Rick Garretson said afterward.
Last week, coach Hovik had Cesar Chavez ready to play and they surprised us, so when we came back to practice this last week it was a lot different I can tell you that. Our kids worked hard this whole week and tonight."

Chandler's first three possessions netted 235 yards in only 11 plays from scrimmage. Halson ran through and around Mountain Ridge defenders, picking up the first three touchdowns as Chandler led 21-3 early in the second quarter.
Mountain Ridge's best drive of the night came on its second possession, and trailing 14-0 in the first quarter. Quarterback Lukas Baughman drove the Mountain Lions to the Chandler seven yard line, but the Wolves clamped down defensively, forcing a Taelon Morris field goal.
Desert Mountain would not threat again.
Defensive back Scooby Bradley returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter before Carter Ochoa took a qck pass 51 yards for a touchdown. Sophomore Will Menci scored on a short quarterback draw before junior quarterback Dominic Carmigiano hit Skyler Ormita from 18 yards just before halftime for a commanding 49-3 lead.

Coach Garretson said he would continue rotating Menci and Carmigiano. "It's worked pretty well so far and we've really been doing it going back to spring ball. They give defenses different looks so we'll keep operating that way."
