Pusch Ridge and Yuma Catholic scored an 18-over-par 162 to come in tied in a regular season match held Wednesday at the Oro Valley Country Club. Tanque Verde took third place with 187 and The Gregory School did not score as a team with two golfers.

Individually, Pusch Ridge junior Kiah Franklin shot a 1-under 35 to hold off Yuma Catholic sophomore Meyer Shill by three strokes. Shill was 2-under after three holes but he shot a bogey on the eighth hole and a double bogey on the ninth to fall behind Franklin.

The Lions were without brothers Mark Stypa, who is a sophomore, and junior Thaddeus Stypa on Wednesday, along with senior Lex Ensio, and the team is expecting to challenge at state this spring. The Shamrocks took seventh place at the Division III state championship last spring and Pusch Ridge took ninth.

Pusch Ridge beat defending state champion Valley Christian 150 to 152 on March 5. Defending state individual champion Ailis Tribolet beat Mark Stypa 34-35.
