Mica Mountain improved to 5-0 on the year after sweeping Mountain View Marana 3-0 Thursday night on the road. The Thunderbolts are coming off of a runner-up finish in the 4A Conference last year in only the fourth year as a varsity program and leading the program is head coach Amy Johnson. Johnson picked up her 807th combined victory Thursday night which puts her tops for Southern Arizona.

Mountain View is now 3-4 on the year and 1-1 in power-point matches under first-year head coach Rueben Bautista. Bautista comes in with experience coaching at Rincon/University and the University of Arizona Club Volleyball team.

Leading the way Thursday night was junior Aubrey Necas who had an unofficial 10 kills to go along with six aces and several blocks. Necas committed to play for Idaho State two weeks ago.

The Thunderbolts have a few days off before traveling to Canyon del Oro (1-0) on Tuesday and Mountain View host Flowing Wells (1-0) on Monday.
