Basha football team mindful of ailing 4-year-old fan

The Basha High football team has plenty on its mind Friday night as it tries to win the 5A Central Region title outright at home against Mesa Mountain View.
But the Bears will and have taken time to promote the cause of 4-year-old fan Andrew Madonia, who has been diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease, an affliction causes muscle weakness and exercise intolerance adn possibly more depending on the severity.
Andrew will be carried through the Basha Bear Tunnell just prior to the start of the game by Bears' linebacker Zach Williams. Basha High is also active in helping Andrew and others afllicted with Mitochondrial Disease through the Energy for Life Walk, which will take place Dec. 19 at Tempe's Kiwanis Park.
