Nike TOC Volleyball set for Oct.18-19 at East Valley locales

Many of Arizona's top girls volleyball teams and a bunch more from out of state will be among those competing Friday Oct. 18 and Saturday Oct. 19 at the 5th annual Nike Tournament of Champions Invite.

There are three tournament sites in the East Valley -- Court One. 9100 S. McKemy Street in Tempe; Hamilton High, 3700 S. Arizona Avenue  in Chandler and Perry High, 1919 East Queen Creek Road in Gilbert. The complete list of teams competing will be available later in the week, but the makeup is close to 50-50 Arizona and out-of-state schools.  

Arizona schools confirmed as of Monday Oct. 14 are: Apache Junction, Arcadia, Basha, Chandler, Cienega, Deer Valley, Desert Ridge, Dobson, Hamilton, Horizon Honors, Joy Christian, Mesa High, Mountain Pointe, Northwest Christian, Perry, Red Mountain, St. Mary's, Sandra Day O'Connor, Seton Catholic, Sunnyslope, Tempe Prep, Thatcher, Valley Lutheran, Veritas, Williams Field and Xavier Prep.

The top school competing from Arizona by their division designation in the state: D-I -- Hamilton, Horizon, Xavier, Desert Vista, Sandra Day O'Connor, Mountain Pointe and Perry; D-II -- Sunnyslope Deer Valley; D-III --  Seton Catholic; D-IV -- Northwest Christian, Veritas, Thatcher, Tempe Prep; D-V -- Joy Christian and Valley Lutheran.

Teams are divided into four, 16-team brackets. Each school plays three pool matches on Friday and guaranteed at least three more on Saturday leading up to each bracket's final.
