Centennial (Peoria, Ariz.) at Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.)
Thursday, 7 p.m. Mountain time
Why it's big: The No. 3 team in the state rankings hosts No. 2 Thursday night in the biggest in-state showdown to date this season in Arizona.
Centennial (3-1) has three consecutive wins since losing by a point to SoCal power Long Beach Poly in the opener. The Coyotes had a bye last week after crushing Highland (Gilbert), 45-7.
Hamilton improved to 5-0 when it stormed Red Mountain last Friday, 33-3. Travis Lockhart threw for 257 yards and a touchdown. The senior has 1,138 passing yards with 14 touchdowns and only one interception this season.
Names to watch: The strength of Centennial's team is its offensive line. The Coyotes have three likely scholarship players in the trenches, including three-star Arizona State commit Marshal Nathe.
Hamilton's top-rated player is defensive tackle Garrett Rand. The four-star senior reportedly is choosing between offers from Wisconsin, Arizona State, Stanford, UCLA and Washington.
