Joy Christian overcame a slow start and a strong Benson team to win its first 11-man title. 

Benson and Joy Christian were tied, 7-7, at halftime, but Joy Christian smothered its opponent in the second half, when Benson drives were stalled by turnovers. The 27-7 win Saturday at Chaparral High capped a 13-0 Division V season for Joy Christian. 

Joy Christian was held to a season low in points but became the first team to score more than 14 points against Benson this season. Joy Christian's only other title was an 8-man crown in 2012.
