Apache Junction (0-1) at Canyon Del Oro (1-0)

 

Canyon del Oro is coming off the worst season in head coach Dustin Peace’s incredible career with the Dorados. It’s a career that started off with a 14-0 record in 2009, a state championship and a running back named Ka’Deem Carey.

CDO went 13-1 the following year with a 41-34 loss to Saguaro in another state championship appearance. Altogether, Peace has 61 wins and only 23 losses with seven of those losses coming last year. Even worse, one of the three victories came against a winless Buena team.

Still, you can’t keep a power team down for long as Shadow Mountain found that out last Friday night when they found themselves on the short end of a 41-13 loss at home.

The Dorados look to go 2-0 for the first time since 2014 when they take on Apache Junction (0-1) at home this Friday. 

The Prospectors haven’t made the state playoffs since 2010 and haven’t had a winning record since 2009. Still, the team dropped a very close 14-12 game to Seton Catholic two weeks ago.
