Important match of the week for Southern Arizona:

 

Thursday, Sept. 22: No. 4 Cienega at No. 2 Sahuaro

The 5A Southern Region is arguably the most difficult in Southern Arizona regardless of conference size. Four of the five programs in the 5A Southern Region have a place in my Top 10 rankings including Ironwood Ridge, Sahuaro, Cienega and Marana Mountain View.

Region play will kick off in a big way on Thursday when Cienega travels to Sahuaro. The Bobcats will come with senior outside Litz Imani, sophomore middle Holly Stutz and junior setter Natalie Lubben and Sahuaro will counter with senior middle Brielle Sterns and the Nash sisters, Madeleine, Abigale and Morgan.

 

The initial AIA/MaxPreps rankings will be released on Thursday, Sept. 22.
