The Gregory School junior Addison Mort reached 1,000 career points after scoring 21 points in a win at San Miguel on Saturday, He is the ninth athlete from Southern Arizona to reach that milestone this year. Only a junior, Mort could reach 1,500 by the time he graduates.

It's a very big accomplishment,” Mort said. “I was put in a position to score ever since my freshman year and I have only gotten better. But this is just as big for my team as it is for me, the coaches and players believed in me 100% from the start. But, as you said, there is many more to come.”

Mort’s teammate, Nick Rosquist is sitting at 1,792 career points with at least 12 games left this year. At his average of 30 points per game, Rosquist could finish over 2,100 points which would put him in the top three in the history of Southern Arizona.

Pueblo standouts Alicia Reyes and Araceli Loya broke 1,000 career points earlier this year as did Walden Grove’s Conner Verdugo, Duncan’s Christopher Corona, Sunnyside’s Mikey Silva and Andrew Reyna of St. Augustine.

Leila El-Ali of Canyon del Oro and Taylor Thompson of The Gregory School broke 1,000 during the winter break tournaments.
