Tennis: Singles, doubles state tournaments begin Friday April 21

Boys and girls tennis singles and doubles state tournaments for Divisions I, II and III begin and continue up to the quarterfinals this week -- Friday April 21 and Saturday April 22 at sites across the Valley.

Here are the top four seeds in each bracket and sites for the initial weekend of action. Quarterfinals are Friday April 28 and semifinals and finals on Saturday April 29.

BOYS

DIVISION I SINGLES - April 21 at Indian School Park; April 22 at Gene Autry Sports Complex

1. Dallin Cook-Logan McMaster, Thatcher; Niko Plant-Chris McDaniels, Tanque Verde; 3. Christian Fetsis-Aaron Reese, Pusch Ridge; 4. Kevin Kirsch-Alexander Tam, Phoenix Country Day.

NOTES: Carlos Hassey was D-II singles runner-up last year and D-II singles champ in 2015. Cameron Krimbill was half of the last year's D-I doubles title team with Jeremy Auh. Maximo Lawlor and Austin Todd have placed third each of the last two years in doubles. Trey Brown has been part of  third-place doubles team each of the last two years. George Jiang placed third rin D-II singles in 2016. Mason Lee was part of D-II doubles runner-up team in 2016. Kesin Dolwani won D-III singles title in 2015 and placed fourth in singles in 2016. Dallin Cook and Logan McMaster won D-III doubles title in 2016 and placed thrid in doubles in 2015.

NOTES: Mesa Mountain View's two-time doubles champion team of twins Anya and Madeline Lamoreaux are not  entered in doubles this year. They've chosen to participate in a  USTA event that conflicts with the state tourney schedule. Chaparral's Grace Koester has been part of D-I doubles runner-up in 2015 and 2016. Horizon's Liza Isayev was runner-up in D-I singles in 2016. Desert Mountain's Madi Moore placed fourth in D-I singles in 2016 and third in D-I singles in 2015.  Xavier's Jordan Craft was part of fourth-place doubles team in 2016. Arcadia's Jill Rasmussen and Katie Reed took third in D-I doubles in 2016. Notre Dame Prep's Alexa Cooke was D-II singles runner-up in 2016 and part of D-II double fourth-place team in 2015. Catalina Foothills Halle Zadro was part of D-II doubles champs in 2016. Seton's Luz Zamudio place third in D-III singles in 2016. Neha Alety won D-III singles title in 2016 and was D-III singles runner-up in 2014 and 2015. Hailey Greer was part of 2016 D-III doubles runner-up team.
