3A North Region and Little Colorado 2A North Region football teams control its own destiny as the regular season champions could be decided until next week when season-ending games are played.

The Page Sand Devils (7-1) travel to Chinle (4-4) to face the Wildcats this Friday. Page and Chinle are both 3-0 in 3A North Region. The Page / Chinle winner moves into first place in the region.

In Little Colorado 2A North Region, Red Mesa (8-0) and Alchesay Falcons (7-1) are unbeaten in league play at 5-0. Red Mesa and Alchesay meet next Friday.

Page 56, Ganado 6

Page continues to play strong on both sides of the football. The Sand Devils chalked up points offensively, running and throwing the ball. Page held Ganado defensively, containing the Hornets' offense throughout the game.

"I was very pleased with our offense," said Page head coach Mitchell Stephens. "We were able to throw and run the ball effectively. Defensively, Hayden Gracia was in the backfield all night. Brandon James recorded double digit tackles and Kimball Begay had two pass interceptions during the game."

Stephens credited Kele Meredith, Hayden Gracia and Dillion Anderson for turning in a strong running game. Stephens said quarterback Robert Smith played a great game, rushing and throwing the ball.

Page players entering paydirt were Kele Meredith, Hayden Gracia, Brandon James, Makaio Warner and Robert Smith. Meredith and Gracia both scored a pair of touchdowns.

Ganado head coach Connor Simmons said the Hornets had a difficult time offensively

"Offensively we did not perform well," he said. "We came away with around 140 yards of total offense. It starts up front. Our big guys just didn't come ready to play."

He said the Hornets' defense played timid throughout the game.

"We didn't tackle well," Simmons said. "We were afraid to take on blocks. Adriano Wilson made some nice plays in the secondary. He stopped them from getting more points on the scoreboard."

Ganado's Herman Kee threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Adriano Wilson in the fourth quarter.

Ganado (4-4, 1-3) travel to Kayenta to face the Monument Valley Mustangs (3-5, 2-1) this Friday at 7 p.m.

Chinle 33, Window Rock 6

Chinle head coach Alan Barwick said despite playing poorly, the Wildcats posted a 33-6 win over the Window Rock Fighting Scouts in a 3A North Region contest at Wildcat Stadium.

"Our offense played terribly," Barwick said. "Our guys looked like they were playing football for the first time. Give credit to Window Rock for a solid defensive outing."

Barwick said Roland Lee and Juan Curley both turned in a good game. He said the Wildcats have a lot work ahead of them.

He said the Wildcats' defense stepped up. He said Darren Woody, James Bahe and Charles Yazzie all recorded pass inrerceptions.

Chinle's Darren Woody scored a pair of touchdowns. Scoring one touchdown apiece were James Bahe, Roland Lee and Juan Curley.

Window Rock head coach Wilbur Begay Jr. said the Fighting Scouts had trouble moving the ball against Chinle's defense.

"We didn't perform well enough to give Chinle a game," Begay said. "Penalties. missed asignments and dropped balls are some of the things we need to work on. Tyrell Boyd played his first game since recovering from an injury. He threw a touchdown pass. We are taking our time with him"

Begay said sophomore Caleb Dickson played a solid game defensively. Begay said Dickson disrupted Chinle's offense.

Window Rock (3-5, 0-3, entertain the Tuba City Warriors (1-7, 0-3) at Judd Avey Memorial Stadium in Fort Defiance in a 3A North Region contest at 7 p.m.

Monument Valley 34, Tuba City 6

Monument Valley chalked up a 34-6 homecoming victory over the Tuba City Warriors in 3A North Region action in Kayenta.

Monument Valley head coach Bryan Begay said the Mustangs turned in a great game, executing on both sides of the ball.

He said Morias Holiday and Milekie Dunbar both played a solid game offensively and defensively.

"They ran the ball well and we put them in space to make them run around and make plays," he said. "Defensively, they were busy covering their athletes one-on-one."

Offensively, Begay said the Mustangs need to fix its red zone offense, limit its penalties and think like football players.

In the first quarter, Monument Valley scored a pair of touchdowns. Andrew Sheppard threw a 50 yard touchdown pass to Holiday. The two later connected on a 80 yard touchdown pass.

Sheppard scored on a 3 yard run in the second quarter. Dunbar scored on a 60 yard run in the third quarter. Sheppard followed with a 45 yard scoring strike to Jackson Bia.

Monument Valley (2-5, 1-1) host the Ganado Hornets in a 3A North Region game this Friday at 7 p.m. Tuba City (1-7, 0-3) play at Window Rock this Friday at 7 p.m.

Pinon 42, Rock Point 28

The Pinon Eagles stopped the Rock Point Cougars, 42-28, in a Little Colorado 2A North Region game.

Pinon head coach Brad Burghart said the Eagles played a very good game in all phases.

"The difference was getting our starters back," he said. "None of whom played at Red Mesa last week. Quarterback Martin Kescoli had a running and passing attack. Defensive end Roland Yazzie made key tackles all night, recording three quarterback sacks. Also making three quarterback sacks was Calvert Tsosie

Pinon (3-6, 3-2) will be at Greyhills Academy (1-6, 1-4) this Friday at 7 p.m.

Rock Point (1-7, 1-4) entertains Valley Sanders Pirates (1-6, 1-4) this Friday at 7 p.m. in a region game.

Alchesay 60, Greyhills Academy 8

The Alchesay Falcons posted a 60-8 victory over the Greyhills Academy Knights in Little Colorado 2A North Region contest.

"I am pleased with our offense," said Alchesay head coach Brandon Newcomb. "Currently Tyreck Cosay, our leading rusher, is out with a sprained knee. A couple other kids are getting a chance to perform in Devin Naranjo and Davin Parker. Hopefully, Tyreck will be back this week."

Newcomb said Parker and Naranjo played well offensively. He said Kellen Parrish has been great in the team's return game. He returned a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown.

"I was happy with our two linebackers, Jerel Minjarez and Jordan Brooks," Newcomb said. "Greyhills had a huge fullback that was hard to bring down. We made contact, drove their feet and were able to tackle the fullback."

Alchesay (7-1, 5-0) will be at Hopi (4-4, 4-1) this Friday at 7 p.m. in a region game.

Hopi 56, Many Farms 6 

Many Farms head coach Jonathan Begay said the Lobos were able to move the ball against Hopi, but couldn't punch the ball into the end zone, as the Hopi Bruins chalked up a 56-6 win over the Many Farms Lobos.

"Our running back Garrin Nez played a solid game, rushing for 65 yards on 13 carries," Begay said. "Our offensive line is young and needs more experience. The kids still need to keep working on their techniques. We also need to stop making mistakes, turning over the ball and penalties."

He said due to lack of experience, the Lobos' defense had a tough night.

"With the few players that we have, they play both ways," he said. "In rhe first part of the game, we were able to get stops. As the game went on, our players got tired in the second half."

He said the Lobos have to tackle better.

"We are not able to see offensive schemes, but at times we are able to stop the offense for a loss of yardage," Begay said.

Many Farms (0-8, 0-5), travel to Red Mesa this Friday at 7 p.m. in a region game.

Hopi (4-4, 4-1, host the Alchesay Falcons this Friday at 7 p.m. in a league game.

Red Mesa 62, Valley Sanders 0

Red Mesa remains undefeated as they posted a 62-0 shutout over the Valley Sanders Pirates in a region game.

Valley Sanders head coach Patrick Boone said the Pirates did not play well offensively, due to dropped passes.

"Each week we have ro rebuild the offense, due to injuries and academica ineligiblity," Boone said. "We are slowly improving this season."

He said slot back Wyatt Francisco, quarterbacl Dean Roan and running back Marcallus Barney played well. He added at times the offensive line did a good job blocking.

Red Mesa head coach Pita Olomua said they played solid defense. He added that Red Mesa's special teams scored some touchdowns.

Defensively, Red Mesa's Hunter Pipkin picked off four pass interceptions, while his teammates had two other pass interceptions.

Offensively, Red Mesa scored touchdowns rushing and passing.

"The kids played an all-around game," Olomua said. "We need to go back to practice working on fundamentals on both sides of the ball.

Olomua said he is reminding his players that they play one game at a time.

"We respect our opponents," Olomua said. "We do not look past anyone."

Red Mesa entertains the Many Farms Lobos this Friday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night. Red Mesa has 13 seniors that includes five first time senior players. Olomua said there are four players that have been with the varsity program for four years.

Valley Sanders (1-6, 1-4) will be at Rock Point (1-7, 1-4) this Friday at 7 p.m. for a region contest.
