No. 2 Tuba City garners 3A North Regional Volleyball title

Utilizing its strength, courage, wisdom and knowledge on the court, No. 2 ranked Tuba City Lady Warriors breezed through the 3A North Regional Volleyball championship at Nash Center on the campus of Monument Valley High School in Kayenta.
Tuba City captured the 3A North Region regular season title, earning the tournament's top seed and a first round bye.
Tuba City defeated the Chinle Lady Wildcats, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-14, for a 3-0 win in the tournament semifinals. The Lady Warriors advanced into the regional championship.
The Lady Warriors topped the Page Lady Sand Devils, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-12, for a 3-0 victory for the regional championship.
No. 8 ranked Kayenta Monument Valley Lady Mustangs finished second place in the regular season, thus earning the tournament's second seed and a first round bye.
Kayenta Monument Valley and Page battled for five sets, before the Lady Sand Devils settled with a 3-2 victory. Page won the first set, 26-24. The Lady Mustangs posted two straight wins, 25-15 and 25-20. Page won the final two sets, 25-15 and 15-2. The victory sent Page into the regional championship.
During the first round, Chinle outlasted the Ganado Lady Hornets, 3-2. Ganado won the first set, 25-21. Chinle battled back to knot the series at 1-1, after winning the second set, 25-19. Ganado posted a 25-21 win, before Chinle won the final two sets, 25-16 and 15-9. Ganado was eliminated from the regional tournament.
Page eliminated the Window Rock Lady Scouts, 3-1, in the first round. Page won the first set, 25-19. Window Rock posted a 25-15 in the second set. Page won sets three and four, 26-24 and 25-17.
All six 3A North Region schools will play in the post-season.
Four of the 3A North Region schools will participate in the Conference Play-In Tournament on Tuesday, with hopes of winning and advancing into this weekend's Volleyball State Tournament in Phoenix.
Based on their final statewide power ranking, Tuba City and Kayenta Monument Valley earned a ticket into the Volleyball State Tournament.
Conference Play-In Tournament matches will be played at the site of the high seed at 6 p.m. No. 12 Page entertains No. 21 Benjamin Franklin. No. 17 Chinle travels to Tucson to face No. 16 Pusch Ridge. No. 18 Ganado will be on the road at No. 18 Show Low. No. 20 Window Rock takes on No. 13 Safford at Safford.
The survivors of the Conference Play-In Tournament advance into the Volleyball State Tournament this Friday in Phoenix.
