The Winslow Bulldogs girls and boys teams dominated the Payson Longhorns in 3A East Region prep basketball action, as teams continue to scramble for the best post season positions.

Winslow Lady Bulldogs, (6-1 region, 18-5 overall), ranked No. 7 in the latest statewide power rankings, knocked off No. 24 ranked Payson, 69-39, (0-7 region, 6-11 overall), 69-39 on Wednesday night in Don Petranovich Gymnasium at Winslow.

In the boy's contest, No. 4 Winslow (5-1 region, 18-4 overall), posted a 67-52 victory over No. 36 Payson (0-6 region, 3-18 overall).

Winslow head coach Scott Corum cited execution as the key to the Bulldogs 3A win over Payson, 67-51.

"It was a good win for us tonight (Wednesday)," Corum said. "We did a pretty good job on the offensive boards, with Elias Stewart grabbing five of them. We did a pretty good job executing our offense and showed good patience looking for the open shooter."

Winslow raced out to a 19-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The tempo of the game shifted, as both team pushed the ball down the floor. The Bulldogs outscored the Longhorns, 22-18, for a 41-26 halftime advantage.
